KOTA KINABALU – The number of flood evacuees at six relief centres in Kota Belud district and Membakut sub-district dropped to 1,617 (679 families) at noon from 1,685 (719 families) in the morning.
The Sabah Disaster Management secretariat in a statement said in the Kota Belud district, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Taun Gusi 2 housed 485 flood victims (202 families);Tun Said Community Hall, 406 (201 families); Sekolah Kebangsaan Pekan hall, 309 (90 families), SMK Agama Tun Said hall, 176 (75 families) and Botung Sports Complex, 152 (76 families).
In the Membakut sub-district within the Kimanis parliamentary constituency, there were 89 flood evacuees from 35 families still sheltered at the Membakut Multi-purpose Hall as at noon.
This relief centre was opened last night to replace the Puspanita Mini Hall which could not cope with the increased number of evacuees. – BERNAMA
