IPOH – The number of flood evacuees in Changkat Jong, near Teluk Intan, about 80 km from here, dropped to 182 as at 8am today from 192 last night.
Hilir Perak Civil Defence Department officer, Mohd Fazly Mohamad Zawawi said 10 of the 192 flood victims housed at the relief centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Jong were allowed to return home.
“Only those living in Lorong Mesra at Batu 7 have not been allowed to return home as the flood waters in the area have not subsided,” he said when contacted today.
According to him, the water level in Sungai Bidor this morning had not changed and still at 2.88 metres since yesterday evening.
The flood was the second that hit the Changkat Jong area in two weeks after the bund along Sungai Bidor collapsed following heavy rain and water overflowed into the residential area.
On Nov 14, 56 victims from 16 families living in Lorong Mesra had to be evacuated. – BERNAMA
