PUTRAJAYA: Don’t be fooled by a Whatsapp message claiming that the identity card code for Pahang-born citizens will be changed.
The National Registration Department (JPN) said in a statement that the birth code for Pahang in the MyKad remained 06, 32 and 33.
“JPN would like to remind the public to be wary and to not believe a message that has been spreading on Whatsapp recently regarding a change in the state-of-birth code for Pahang.
“The information that has been spread is false and untrue. Until now, there are no changes to the birth code for Pahang which is 06, 32 and 33.
“The public can find out all the state-of-birth codes in Malaysia at the JPN’s official website at www.jpn.gov.my or go directly to http://www.jpn.gov.my/kod-negeri/
“It must also be stressed that such vital information which involves an individual’s identity record should not be ridiculed as it could cause confusion among the public,†the statement read.
The fake Whatsapp message was believed to be a banter among football fans following a Super League match which saw Pahang FC losing 0-6 to their bitter rivals Johor Darul Ta’zim.
The message claimed that all those born in Pahang and have the birth “06†in their MyKad are urged to visit the registration department within a week and change their code from “06†to “6-0â€.
