KUALA LUMPUR – Now everyone can have the convenience of having the latest daily news in their palms via smartphones, thanks to the collaboration between redONE mobile and The Star newspaper.
Through this tie-up, any redOne customer signing up for the RM88 package with a minimum 3GB data, is entitled to a free 12-month subscription to the Star’s ePaper worth RM180.
According to redOne Chief Executive Officer Farid Yunus, under the package, customers can also get a new Huawei smartphone or tablet and make unlimited net calls between users.
Users can download an exact replica of the daily print version to their smart phones via the Star’s mobile application which is available on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store.
redONE Network Sdn Bhd is the country’s only postpaid Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) and uses Celcom Axiata’s infrastructure in Malaysia.
The company is also the winner of the prestigious Frost and Sullivan MVNO of the year award for two consecutive years from 2014.
Farid said the company is fast expanding and would hit the one million subscriber base by year-end.
He told Bernama today that the company was also working out similar packages with Malay and Chinese newspaper companies.
“Our eventual goal is to provide a comprehensive choice for our customers to read their daily news in their preferred language,” he said.
Meanwhile, Star Media Group Bhd Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai said besides the Star ePaper, redOne customers can also access four regional publications, namely the China Daily Asia weekly, The Nation, The Philippines Daily Inquirer and Jakarta Post.
