Noh Raps Azmin For Allegedly Washing Hands Of Ijok Land Issues

KUALA SELANGOR – Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government today rapped Menteri Besar Selangor Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for allegedly washing his hands of the compensation and land issues raised by Ijok settlers.

He said Mohamed Azmin seemed to have washed his hands and left it to the developers to negotiate the sale of the land which should rightly be done by the state government.

Noh also said the compensation of RM180,000 and a house valued at RM250,000 for each of the 980 settlers based on the value of the property 15 years ago was seen unreasonable as the developers had made a lot of profit when they sold the land to third parties for RM1.18 billion according to the current property value.

“I was made to understand that the two developers, which had failed to develop the land, had decided among themselves to whom the land should be sold.

“Despite the developers being problematic, the state government led by Mohamed Azmin still chose to leave it to them (developers) to negotiate the sale of the land with third parties,” Noh told reporters after opening the Sekolah Kebangsaan Rantau Panjang Parents-Teacher Association annual general meeting here today.

The minister, who is also Tanjong Karang Member of Parliament, said the menteri besar’s move to pass the responsibility to resolve the compensation and land issues to the developers reflected major weaknesses in his administration.

Noh said this in response to Barisan Nasional (BN) Strategic Communication director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan’s recent remark, urging the menteri besar to explain why the state government “hastily” returned the disputed land worth RM1.18 billion in Ijok to two housing developers in 2016.

Abdul Rahman said the action raised questions because both the High Court and Court of Appeal had, in 2013 and 2014 respectively, ruled that the land belonged to the Selangor government. – BERNAMA
