KUALA LUMPUR – The government has no plans to set up a Prime Minister’s Question Time (PMQs) session at the Dewan Rakyat sittings, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
“This is because every question that is submitted by the Members of Parliament will be replied either in the oral or written form by the minister or deputy minister according to their respective portfolio or responsibilities,” he said.
He said this in a written reply to opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PKR-Permatang Pauh) at the Dewan Rakyat sitting here today.
Anwar wanted to know whether the government was ready to upgrade the parliamentary system by setting up a PMQs session such as the Westminister system in the United Kingdom which allocated 30 minutes for the prime minister to reply to relevant questions. – BERNAMA
