MAKKAH – No Malaysians are involved in a fire that reportedly occurred on Friday in the pilgrims’ tent zone in Mina, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
In the incident yesterday evening, which took place in a tent for Egyptian pilgrims it is believed the fire emanated from a kitchen nearby.
“No Malaysian pilgrims are involved. Their family members in Malaysia need not worry because the pilgrims are all in good condition,” he said in a statement, here, today.
According to an Egyptian news website, Al-Youm al-Sabea, a tent belonging to Egyptian pilgrims caught fire during the Haj pilgrimage on Friday.
The report added that eight fire trucks quickly rushed to the site, and fire fighters extinguished the blaze in a short while.
There were no immediate reports of casualties nor any report on the extent of damage inflicted in the aftermath of the mishap. – BERNAMA
