PUTRAJAYA – There has been no report of Malaysian casualties in relation to Wednesday’s car bomb attack in Ankara, Turkey, the Foreign Ministry said.
Wisma Putra said in a statement that the Malaysian Embassy in Ankara was in close contact with Malaysian citizens, including students.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, through the Embassy of Malaysia in Ankara, will continue to monitor the situation,” it said.
The ministry also reminded Malaysian citizens residing in and travelling to Turkey to always give utmost priority to their personal safety and the security of their surroundings, and to closely monitor and comply with any advisory issued by the Government of Turkey.
Wisma Putra said Malaysia strongly condemned the car bomb attack, which had killed 28 people and left 61 others injured, and expressed its deepest condolences to the Government of Turkey, families and people affected by the attack.
“The Government of Malaysia regards the attack as a heinous act of terrorism and the perpetrators should be brought to justice,” it said. – BERNAMA
