No Individual Medal At FINA World Series For Pandelela Rinong

KUALA LUMPUR – National diving queen, Pandelela Rinong Pamg failed to secure an individual medal in the final leg of the 2016 FINA Diving World Series held in Kazan, Russia, on Saturday.

The Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games-bound diver completed in fifth place with 342.05 points.

She had finished empty-handed in her pet event in the other three rounds in Beijing, Dubai and Windsor.

The 23-year-old fought her way at the Kazan Aquatic Palace to finish second with 357.45 points in her semi-final heat to advance into the final.

However, Chinese diver, Ren Qian showcased sensational dive to clinch the gold medal with 367.35 points while Great Britain’s Tonia Couch and another Chinese diver Si Yajie took the silver and bronze medal after amassing 365.90 and 353.70 points respectively.

After completing four series, Ren emerged as the overall champion with 52 points, while Pandelela Rinong settled in sixth place with 38 points.

At this year’s invititional event, Pandelela who partnered Leong Mun Yee won two bronze medal in the 10m platform synchronised event at Kazan and Beijing. – BERNAMA
