KUALA LUMPUR: There are no plans for BR1M recipients to be exempted from paying the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Parliament was told Tuesday.

“The Government has already raised the value of BR1M in line with the GST implementation,” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said in a written reply to a question by Datuk Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (BN-Tanah Merah).

“For those with a household income of below RM3,000, the aid is now RM950 instead of RM650, while recipients with a household income between RM3000 and RM4,000 are entitled to RM750 instead of RM450 previously,” said Najib, who is also Finance Minister.

“Single individuals aged 21 and above, earning not more than RM2,000 a month, are now entitled to receive RM350 instead of RM300,” said Najib.
