GEORGETOWN – Police believe that there was no foul play in the death of four month-old Nur Ariana Safiyyah at a nursery in Gelugor here, today.
“Autopsy conducted by a medical officer confirmed the cause of death was due to pneumonia,” said Timur Laut district police chief ACP Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.
Mohammad Shauqi Zainondin,26, said his daughter, Nur Ariana Safiyyah was sent to the nursery by his wife, Nur Farhana Ros Nazri,26, at 7 am.
“About one and a half hour later, my wife was told that Nur Ariana Safiyyah suffered shortness of breath when the babysitter wanted to change her clothes,” he said when met at Penang Hospital mortuary here.
Nur Ariana Safiyyah was then rushed to a nearby clinic by an employee of the nursery.
Mohammad Shauqi, who is an electrician with Rapid Penang, said it was Nur Ariana Safiyyah’s third day at the nursery after his civil servant wife began work last week. – BERNAMA
