KUALA LUMPUR – Squash queen Datuk Nicol David cruised into the semi-finals of the Qatar Classic Squash Championship 2015 after outclassing Hong Kong’s Annie Au at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old Penangite beat the fifth seed in straight sets with 11-7, 11-4 and 11-3 in just 23 minutes.
“Annie is so dangerous, she is a lefty, you never know where her shots are going. She is so hard to read and she can put something together nicely,
especially in the glass court,” said Nicol as quoted on squash website, www.squashsite.co.uk.
“I had to work very hard and I’m happy with my game. Delighted to win in three (3-0),” she added.
Nicol will be meeting Egypt’s rising squash star, Nour El Sherbini in the semi-finals.
Nour defeated third seed, Camille Serme of France, 13-11, 11-8, 8- 11 and 11-8 in 52 minutes, to book her semis berth.
Their match will be held at 6pm local time (11pm Malaysian time). – BERNAMA
