The Nepalese earthquake has shattered the very soul of the mountainous country and has killed thousands of its people. But there is hope for the tiny nation to recuperate.
A special fund to help disaster stricken Nepal was launched by the Nepal Consulate in Penang today, according to NST.
Honorary Nepal consul-general to Penang and Northern Malaysia Datuk Huan Cheng Guan launched the donation drive in hopes of assisting those displaced by the massive earthquake on Saturday.
“I am concerned about the wellbeing of the Nepali people here and their families back home. “I would like to urge Penangites to donate to our Nepal Disaster Fund that we have set up,” he said in a press conference here.
Huan welcomed the public to also donate items such as food and clothing to the consulate office in Prai.
Members of public who would like to donate items can drop them off at the Honorary Consulate of Nepal premises at No 2777, (Ground Floor) Jalan Chain Ferry, 13700 Taman Inderawasih, Perai, Penang. (Same row with RHB Bank).
