KUALA LUMPUR – Another strong earthquake measuring 6.5 at the Richter Scale rumbled across Nepal at 3.09 p.m today (Malaysian time).
The Malaysian Meteorological Department said in a statement issued here today the quake’s epicenter was 356 kilometers (km) North West of Dinajpur in Bangladesh, and 2,789km North West of Padang Besar, Perlis.
There is no tsunami threat and the department is closely monitoring the developments, the statement added.
The media and the Himalayan nation’s authorities have reported a death toll of not less than 1,800 people following yesterday’s quake with a magnitude of 7.9. – BERNAMA
