SEREMBAN – The disabled teenager, Muhammad Firdaus Dullah, who was found neglected and extremely malnourished at a unit of Taman Semarak Flats in Nilai last year, died today.
He was 16.
Tuanku Jaafar Hospital director Dr Ariffin Mohamad said the teenager suffered an epileptic fit during lunch time at the Rumah Sinar Harapan Tunku Ampuan Najihah near here today.
“The ambulance arrived at the premises at 12.35 pm and the paramedics began resuscitation while he was being transported to the hospital.
“The actual cause of death will be known after the post mortem tomorrow,” he said in a statement here today.
Negeri Sembilan Social Welfare Department director Mohamad Hapil said the boy’s mother, Lolanopita Sadi, had left it to the department to manage the funeral arrangement.
He said during the normal patrol by the principal of Rumah Sinar Harapan earlier, Muhammad Firdaus was seen in a healthy condition.
“He had an epileptic fit while having lunch with his friends and we called for an ambulance,” he said.
Mohamad said the teenager was registered into Rumah Sinar Harapan on Aug 21 last year and his current weight was 27 kg.
Meanwhile, State Welfare, Women and Family Development Committee chairman Datuk Norhayati Omar said the funeral cost for Muhammad Firdaus would be borne by the state government.
“I have informed the Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan about this. My heartiest condolence to the family and many thanks to Rumah Sinar Harapan for taking care of the boy all this while. We will sure miss this special child,” she added.
Muhammad Firdaus was found covered in his own faeces and urine during a raid conducted by the state Immigration Department at 2.30 am on June 21, 2014. – BERNAMA
