KUALA LUMPUR – Nike Malaysia today unveiled the National team’s new kit for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup in Myanmar, next week.

Its Country Marketing Manager, Nino Priambodo said the kit went through a vigorous testing process after taking into consideration feedback from players, to deliver a kit that facilitates and promotes high and fast performances on the field.

“While the new kit has undergone a revamp in its looks, it supports players with the latest Nike innovations in fabric construction, performance technology and moisture management which are vital for the player’s performance,” he told reporters after the team kit official launch at National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil, today.

Vice-captain Baddrol Bakhtiar believes the new kit will boost the team’s spirit for the upcoming regional football tournament.

“As a player, the smallest detail counts especially the lightness and breathability of the jerseys and with this new kit, the new innovations will help elevate our performance in the tournament,” said Baddrol who is from Kedah.

The design features an all-black base, with striking yellow detailing, a first for the national jersey and the away kit also features a change in the base colour to white with blue detailing at the sides.

The design of the home kit embodies Malaysian pride in a whole new way, giving the team kit a facelift by revamping the tigers and modernizing the quintessential stripes.

Also present at the present were three other national players – Zaquan Adha Abdul Radzak, Matthiew Davies, Nazirul Naim Che Hashim and national head coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee.

The new national team kit is priced at RM289 and will be available at selected Nike Stores and also all partnering Al-Ikhsan outlets from tomorrow onwards.

In the AFF Suzuki Cup, Malaysia have been drawn in Group B with Cambodia, Vietnam and host Myanmar and the Malaysia kick-off their campaign against Cambodia this Sunday, followed by Vietnam on Nov 23, before concluding the preliminary round against Myanmar three days later.
