SERDANG: The Malaysia Agro-Exposition Park, Serdang, (MAEPS) will be the venue for this year’s national-level Prophet Muhammad’s birthday celebration (Maulidur Rasul) which falls on Dec 24.
Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) deputy director-general (Human Development) Datuk Razali Shahabudin said this year’s celebration, with the theme ‘Unity The Pulse of the Country’s Transformation’ (Perpaduan Nadi Transformasi Negara), is expected to attract 11,000 participants.
He said a total of 125 contingents, including from the public and private sector, statutory bodies, non-governmental organisations and institutions of higher learning will participate in the Maulidur Rasul parade.
The parade will also involve the participation of 200 high-powered motorcycles, he told reporters at the pre-launch of the Maulidur Rasul celebration here today.
He said the celebration would be attended by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansur, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid and other cabinet ministers will also be present, he added.
