KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took some time to watch the 1Malaysia Cup final match at MINDEF Football Stadium, here today.
Najib, who arrived at 4.50pm, watched thirty minutes of the match between Ipoh Friday’s Football Club (Perak) and SPT Indians Football Association Penang).
Ipoh Friday’s beat SPT Indians 2-0 to lift the 1Malaysia Cup.
He then presented prizes to the champions and runners-up of the tournament.
The winners received RM15,000 cash and the chance to attend the Real Madrid Foundation Campus Experience football camp.
The runners-up received RM7,500 cash.
A total of 80 teams nationwide competed in the tournament organised by 1Malaysia Foundation and Laureus Sports for Good Foundation.
The tournament was held to promote the development of Malaysian football and prepare the players for a professional career. – BERNAMA
