KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has expressed confidence that the ‘Harimau Malaya’ squad is capable of lifting the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup in the match against Thailand tonight.
“I believe the Harimau Malaya squad has the capability to win the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup. Play with a strong fighting spirit.
“Malaysians are praying that the Malaysian team will succeed in redeeming the loss in Bangkok recently and display a great and excellent match. Insyallah,” he said.
Najib said this in a video clip entitled ‘Words of inspiration from the Prime Minister to the Harimau Malaya squad for the final of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup’ which was uploaded in the YouTube.
Malaysia will face Thailand in the second leg of the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup final at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium at 8pm tonight.
Malaysia lost 0-2 to Thailand in the first leg of the final match at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok, last Wednesday.
The Harimau Malaya squad would be playing in the final of the 2014 edition of the championship after having played in 1996 and 2010.
Malaysia emerged as the champion for the first time in the 2010 edition under the guidance of Datuk K. Rajagobal. – BERNAMA
