KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today visited National cyclist Nur Rozi Yanti Mat Rodzi who was involved in a freak accident last week.
Najib who visited the back up squad cyclist at the Kajang Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) said the doctor who treated Nur Rozi Yanti had informed him that the rider’s condition was still critical although she had shown positive improvement.
“We pray for her speedy recovery,” said the Prime Minister in his latest Facebook posting today.
The 17-year-old cyclist suffered the mishap at Kilometer 19 of the Kajang SILK Highway on Sept 5 during routine training.
Nur Rozi Yanti was reported to have fallen off her bicycle while adjusting her feet on the pedal of her bicycle after suffering cramps in her leg and was run over by the van that was escorting the rider.
Meanwhile, Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said the Prime Minister pledged to assist the rider during the recovery period.
Naim said Nur Rozi Yanti was able to communicate with her mother but thehospital would conduct another test to determine her condition.
“She still needs close observation after what she had gone through for about 120 hours. Intensive care is necessary to avoid any complications,” he told Bernama when contacted. – BERNAMA
