KUANTAN – For someone who has served the party for a long time, nothing is more precious than a visit from the party’s number one leader when he is sick.
Former Pahang UMNO executive secretary, Datuk Faisal Abdullah, 69, said the visit by UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to his house at Medan Tok Sira, here to find out about his condition and to reminisce about the past was something that was most touching.
“I have not met him (Najib) for 10 years. I had served under him from 1978 to 1984. He had given me a lot of advice then which could be used for guidance in the struggle for the party and the Malays.
“However, my health is failing to the extent that my left hand had to be amputated three months ago due to diabetes,” he said when met by reporters, here today.
The father of five children and eight grandchildren was deeply touched by Najib’s visit and could not control his emotion when the Member of Parliament for Pekan entered his house. Faisal immediately hugged the country’s number one leader tightly as soon as he stepped into the house.
Najib, who was accompanied by the Chairman of the State Felda Affairs Committee Datuk Abu Bakar Harun who is also the State Assemblyman for Chini, and Paya Besar Member of Parliament Datuk Abdul Manan Ismail, spent about 30 minutes at Faisal’s house. – BERNAMA
