KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today performed Friday prayers and the funeral prayers for the remains of Allahyarhamah Zailah Ismail, the daughter of former deputy prime minister Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman at the At-Taqwa Mosque Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), here.
Najib arrived at about 1.20 pm and was greeted by family members, members of the congregation at the mosque and was seen to exchange greetings with the people before performing Friday prayers led by the Imam of the mosque, Mohd Fadlullah Mohd Nor.
He later performed the funeral prayers and joined those present in reciting the ‘doa’ for her soul to be placed among the believers.
The Prime Minister who was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, later left the mosque at about 2.20pm.
Meanwhile, Mohd Tawfik Tun Dr Ismail, 66, Zailah’s elder brother, said his sister died of cancer at the Pusat Perubatan Pakar Damansara at 4.30 this morning.
He said that her remains would be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery today.
Zailah, 64, is survived by four children – Tariq Ismail Mustafa 38, Yassif Nagim Mustafa 36, Kamariah Shakirin Mustafa 34 and Ismail Iskandar Wildan Mustafa 27. – BERNAMA
