KUALA LUMPUR – The 2014 Umno General Assembly began this morning at the Putra World Trade Centre here Thursday.
The three-day assembly, which would end on Saturday, began with the flag-raising ceremony at the Plaza Merdeka.
Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is scheduled to deliver his presidential policy speech before 2,763 Umno delegates from all over the country and subsequently declare open the assembly of the largest Malay party.
Themed ‘United Malay’, the annual assembly of the 68 years old party will touch on various issues, including the proposed abolition of the Sedition Act 1948, vernacular schools, religion and the Muslims, economic and social development and national solidarity.
Yesterday, the three Umno wings – Wanita, Youth and Puteri – held their respective annual assemblies. – Bernama
