YAN (Kedah) – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had breakfast today with over 200 people here at the Pantai Murni Food Court.
The Prime Minister partook of the ‘peknga’ with fish curry local delicacy and ‘air nira’ (palm sap) from a spread of peknga with fish curry, air nira, ‘roti jala’, ‘ pulut ikan masin’ and ‘nasi lemak’, and gave the thumbs-up for the air nira as the best in the country.
“ I came to Pantai Murni today with the intention of having breakfast with the people, the fishermen. I did not expect such a huge crowd,” he said during breakfast after arriving there at 10.15 am. He thanked the people for their presence.
Najib, who came with Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah, was welcomed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Jerai MP Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Kedah Industries and Investment, Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Cooperatives Committee chairman and Guar Chempedak state assemblyman Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail.
Jamil Khir briefed the Prime Minister on the construction of a link from Gurun along the North-South Expressway, the proposed site of the FIFA-standard stadium in Keda Sungai Udang near here, the Islamic Affairs Office Complex, the Yan Syariah Subordinate Court and the widened Bukit Choras Bridge.
He also briefed Najib on the Yan District Floating Mosque which is under construction.
The Prime Minister said RM18 million had been approved for the construction of the mosque which was almost of the same standard as the state mosque.
“The Jerai parliamentary constituency has a floating mosque. Even the Pekan constituency does not have one,” Najib said in jest in reference to his own constituency in Pahang. – BERNAMA
