Najib Meeting Industry Leaders In Tokyo

TOKYO: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is meeting leaders of several Japanese organisations and businesses at a hotel here Wednesday.

Najib, who is on a three-day visit to Japan from Tuesday at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, met representatives of the Japan-Malaysia Parliamentary Friendship Association (JMPFA).

JMPFA chairman Keini Furuya, several representatives of Parliament and Japan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Makio Miyagawa attended the meeting.

Najib also met Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) chairman and CEO Hiroyuki Ishige, who had called on him.

The Malaysian Prime Minister is scheduled to attend a luncheon Wednesday with several Japanese leaders of industry at the same hotel.

They include representatives of NEC Corporation, East Japan Railway Company, Sumitomo Corporation, Taisei Corporation, Mitsui Co Ltd, Japan Petroleum Exploration Co (Japex), Tokyo Gas Co Ltd, Mitsubishi Corporation and IHI Corporation.

Najib is scheduled to have a meeting with Abe and also attend a bilateral meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan.

Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, are also scheduled to attend a dinner Wednesday with Abe and his wife, Akie, at their official residence.

Accompanying Najib on the visit to Japan are Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim and Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan; Foreign Ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Othman Hashim and Malaysia’s Ambassador to Japan Datuk Ahmad Izlan Idris.

Also in the delegation are Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Puzi Ab Kahar; Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida ) CEO Datuk Azman Mahmud and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) CEO Datuk Dzulkifli Mahmud. – Bernama
