To promote Southeast Asia’s abundance of natural wonders and cultural exoticism, prime minister Dato’ Seri Najib Tun Razak has launched an ASEAN-based travel channel at the 26th ASEAN Summit here today, slated to become the world’s first.
Appropriately dubbed GOASEAN, the channel is the brainchild of Najib himself as a commemoration of Malaysia being the chairman of this year’s summit.
The channel is poised to showcase Asean countries’ rich cultural heritage and hidden natural splendours, whilst improving the regions financial and social wellbeing.
It would also provide multiple and far reaching promotional platforms to showcase Asean as a globally competitive destination of leisure and commerce, supported by world-class infrastructure.
The idea of GOASEAN was inspired by Europe’s success as a single tourist destination.
GOASEAN aims to attract 60 million viewers across the region, and will broadcast seven days a week, 365 days a year from various platforms, primarily IPTV, mobile and digital platforms and would start with Malaysia’s Astro Channel 737 this June.-MYNEWSHUB.CC
