KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today launched a book written by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau which revolves around, among others, the need for integrity in driving the technology and innovation sector.
The book titled, ‘Komunikasikan Sains, Tulus, Integriti Demi Kesejahteraan Masyarakat’ (Communicating Science, Trust and Integrity for Societal Wellbeing), was launched by the prime minister in conjunction with the Global Entrepreneurship Community Summit 2017 (GEC20), here.
Madius, in his preamble of the 307-page book, said it contained a collection of his writings over more than a year, which he started on the realisation that the policy and direction of the ministry must be clearly conveyed to the general public.
“Throughout this journey, we need to always do some soul-searching to ensure we are on the right path, which is the main topic of discussion in this book.
“I dedicate this book to the TN50 (National Transformation 2050) generation. What is the dream of these Malaysians? Our responsibility is to do the best for them?” he wrote in the book.
The book, published in the Malay and English language and containing 42 articles written between February last year and June this year, is sold at RM40 per copy. It can be obtained from the Institute of Translation and Books Malaysia (ITBM) and through its website at www.itbm.com.my.
When visiting the exhibition booths set up in conjunction with GEC2017, Najib also launched the multi-platform online radio, eFM, and named the song ‘Perfect’ by English singer-songwriter-guitarist Ed Sheeran as his favourite song .
The prime minister also presented the Malaysia Commercialisation Year (MCY) 2017 Awards, which saw the Tactical Communications Operations Management System (TACCOMS) from Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia receiving the Supreme Award in the form of a trophy and funds amounting to RM230,000 for being top overall.
The MCY 2017 also saw Ananocoat winning the Commercial Deal Award, Palm-Based Chicken Feed (Research and Business Partnership Award), Tigerus Cordyseps (Emerging Innovator Award), Terapi.my (Social Entrepreneur Award) and TACCOMS also receiving the Researcher Entrepreneur Award. – BERNAMA
