KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hopes that the Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV25) which was named ‘Gempita’ can boost the army’s capability to protect the nation from any threat.
Najib said this in his latest entry on his Facebook tonight.
“Today, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and I had the opportunity to witness the handing over of 12 units of the Infantry Fighting Vehicles to the army by DRB-HICOM Defence Technologies Sdn Bhd (DEFTECH).
“At the event, I also announced the name of the fighting vehicle which wasÂ ‘Gempita'”, he said.
The handing over of the 8X8 vehicle was performed by the managing director of the DRB-HICOM Group, Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil to the army chief, Gen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor.
The IFV25 is the first variant out of the 12 variants of the fighting vehicles developed and produced by the Deftech factory in Pekan. – BERNAMA
