PETALING JAYA – Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says Malaysia has lost a leading religious icon with the passing of PAS spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din.
In expressing his condolences, the Prime Minister said the veteran leader, whom he had always respected, had made significant contributions to the county.
“Received sad news that Tuan Guru Datuk Dr Haron Din has returned to the Creator…Personally, my family and I have lost a close and beloved friend,” he wrote on Facebook Friday.
Najib said despite different political ideologies, he and Haron shared the same vision, which is to make Malaysia a prosperous and peaceful Islamic country.
“May he be placed among the righteous in the highest place in paradise. Al-Fatihah,” he said.
Najib had previously visited Dr Haron at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in April, where he sought treatment.
