KUALA LUMPUR – Sirul Azhar Umar has sworn in God’s name that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak was “no way involved” in the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2006.
In a 55-second video, the former police commando was seen sitting down rigidly with his hands clasped together.
In the video, he said that he was taught never to defame anyone.
“I understand the motivation of certain parties with interests to sabotage someone,” said Sirul.
“I was never brought up or taught to make false accusations. It is a big sin if I falsely accuse somebody.
“I promise by God, that Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is in no way involved in this case,” he said.
The video is the third video of Sirul talking about the Altantuya murder case.
In his first video, he said that parties with vested interests were attempting to sabotage somebody, but did not mention any names.
The second video showed Sirul revealing that “the woman”, a reference to Altantuya, was not pregnant.
On Jan 13 last year, the Federal Court sentenced Sirul and former Special Action Unit personnel Azilah Hadri to death for the murder of Altantuya.
However, Sirul was not present on the day the Court passed judgement as he had escaped to Australia.
He was detained on Jan 20 last year by Australian immigration after Interpol issued a red notice, and held at the Villawood Immigration Detention Centre in Sydney. – MyNewsHub/The Star
