KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on Friday called on Muslims to follow the sunnah (teachings and practices) of Prophet Muhammad.
He said true Islamic teachings of the Prophet were to create a Muslim community that was moderate, of quality, noble, excellent, non-extreme and fair.
“Alhamdulillah, together we were able to celebrate the birthday of our great Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, yesterday. Hopefully, we will always imbibe and practise what our Prophet had left us with,” Najib said on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
Najib also reminded Muslims to always strive to be moderate by emulating and upholding the Prophet’s way of life, legacy and personal traits.
Yesterday, Maulidur Rasul or birthday of Prophet Muhammad was celebrated for the second time this year by Muslims throughout the country with the theme, “Solidarity, the Pulse of National Transformation”.
The national-level celebration was held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang, Seloangor, for the first time, and it was launched by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah. – BERNAMA
