PEKAN – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak distributed tithe to 5,981 recipients, consisting of the asnaf, senior citizens, the disabled and single mothers in the Pekan parliamentary constituency today.
It was held at the Pekan Convention Hall during which Najib, who is Pekan Member of Parliament, received tithe contributions totalling RM1.6 million from corporate bodies and a businessman.
They are Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (RM600,000), Uda Holdings Berhad (RM200,00); Affin Islamic Bank Berhad (RM100,000), Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd (RM100,000), Pilgrims Fund Board (RM100,000), SME Bank (RM50,000); Poverty Eradication Foundation (RM50,000), while the businessman contributed RM100,000 which was handed by his representative, Datin Mariamah Mohamed (RM100,000).
Also present at the event was the Prime Minister’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who also distributed the tithe to recipients, and Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Seri Hasan Malik. – BERNAMA
