KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak conveyed his condolences to the family of former executive chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Tan Sri Dr Ani Arope, who died this morning.
“My condolences to the family of TS (Tan Sri) Ani Arope who passed away this morning. May his soul be placed among the believers. Al-Fatihah,” he said in his Twitter posting.
Ani, 82, who was receiving treatment for prostate cancer, died before dawn at the Subang Jaya Medical Centre.
Born on May 17, 1932 in Sungai Bakap, Seberang Prai, Penang, Ani is survived by his wife, Puan Sri Saenah Ahmad and three children besides several adopted children.
His remains were taken to the TNB Islamic Centre in Bangsar and is expected to be laid to rest at the Muslim Cemetery in Section 21 in Shah Alam at noon.
Ani was TNB executive chairman from 1992 to 1996 besides having been chief executive of several private companies, a higher institution of learning and various organisations. – BERNAMA
