KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today congratulated Nurul Atiqah Abu Talib who made history by winning the shooting event at the World Women Confederation Cup Petanque Championship here.
“Congratulations to Nurul Atiqah for winning the shooting event (held at Arena PPWPKL, Pudu Ulu, Cheras) for Malaysia,” he said in a recent post on his Facebook page today.
Junior athlete Nurul Atiqah, 19, won the gold medal after defeating Audrey Bandier of France, 37-21 in the final.
Najib is confident that Nurul Atiqah will continue to excel in future and bring more glory for Malaysia.
He also congratulated the ‘triples’ team of Nurul Atiqah, Anis Amira Basri, Ariba Aida Hasan and Nur Thahira Tasnim Abdul Aziz for winning the bronze medal after defeating Sweden 13-11 in the third place play-off.
The gold medal in the ‘triples’ event was won by France who beat defending champions Thailand, 13-10.
The eight countries which took part were Thailand, France, Australia, Sweden, Vietnam, Canada, United States and hosts Malaysia. – Bernama
