SEREMBAN – The Negeri Sembilan Malaysian Civil Defence Department (JPAM) has launched its 10th Ops Bantu (Assistance Operation) here today to provide emergency assistance especially to motorists during the Chinese New Year.
State JPAM deputy director, Major Mohd Rohaidi Halim said 137 personnel with 12 ambulances, seven four-wheel drives and four motorcycles were involved in the operation in seven districts in the state.
He said during festive seasons, the JPAM in each district would be on duty to ensure assistance was rendered.
“The operation is held before and after Chinese New Year, from Feb 16 to 18 and from Feb 22 to 24, starting at 8 am to 12 midnight. JPAM teams will be covering districts such as Seremban, Port Dickson, Tampin, Kuala Pilah, Gemas, Jelebu and Jempol.
“During Ops Bantu, our personnel will be patroling the area every hour to extend any emergency assistance,” he told reporters after launching the operation here today.
Meanwhile, Rohaidi also advised car owners to inspect their vehicles earlier before starting their journey and to be prepared physically and mentally to avoid getting into road accidents.
“Apart from that, get sufficient rest and obey all regulations on the road and do not get too emotional when one is behind the wheel,” he said.
Road users who wish to get assistance could contact 999 or JPAM direct line at 06-7645755. – BERNAMA
