KUALA LUMPUR – The “MyHero” Award 2.0 was launched for the second time to promote unity amongst the various races in the country.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup said the award is very meaningful as it emphasised the importance of racial harmony and understanding among the ethnic groups.
“This programme will help to boost unity between Malaysians, regardless of race, religion and culture where individuals of different races extend help to each other through good deeds,” he said during the award launching here Thursday.
Jointly organised by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (KLSCCI) and Nanyang Siang Pau, the “MyHero” Award was introduced in 2014 to recognise and acknowledge unsung heroes/heroines whose good deeds went towards promoting national unity and racial harmony.
The programme is open to all Malaysians and entries must describe the story of the good deed of the person and his or her personal details, and also of the sender.
Submission of entries must reach KLSCCCI by Oct 31.
A panel of judges will select six winners with the most touching stories.
Winners will walk away with RM5,000 and a trophy each and would be appointed by the Department of National Unity and Integration (Prime Minister’s Department) as “National Unity Ambassador”.
