GEORGE TOWN – A Myanmar construction worker was beaten to death by fellow workers at a condominium construction site following a drunken brawl in Kampung Batak, Relau, near here last night.
Southwest district police deputy chief, DSP Siti Nor Salawati Saad, said the body of the man, in his 20’s, was found by some other workers lying at the construction site at about 11.30 last night.
“The body was covered in blood with bruises and injuries on it. The head was seriously injured, believed to have been hit with a blunt object,” she said here today.
Initial investigations showed the victim was involved in a fight with some friends (also Myanmar nationals), but the cause of the fight involving more than five people is unknown. During the incident, they were all drunk.
Upon realising the victim was unconscious the suspects involved in the fight fled, she said.
Siti Nor Salawati urged those with information on the incident or the suspects to immediately contact the nearest police station. – BERNAMA
