KUALA LUMPUR – Umno Secretary General Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Deputy President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has crossed the line with his speech last night and can lose his position because of it.
“I ran through the (video of the) speech at 2 to 3 in the morning with my staff. Definitely, according to the perlembagaan (constitution) and our party ethics, he crossed the line.
“I am still looking at the matter and will pass it (the video) to the special UMNO committee which will bring it to the Disciplinary Board for further action,” he told reporters here when asked whether Muhyiddin would be sacked because of his speech at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kampung Baru last night.
“I don’t know. He might lose his position. It will depend on what the Disciplinary Board decides.”
Tengku Adnan, who is Federal Territories Minister, said that Muhyiddin was well aware of what was inside the party constitution.
“He himself knows and we are agreed that party problems should be discussed within the party and not spoken outside …
“Party secrets, strengths should not be told outside the party… They should stay within ourselves.
“I have said yesterday, ‘don’t cross the line. You can speak, but don’t cross the line,'” Tengku Adnan added.
He said he was very sad. “Question after question, until at the end wanting to ask the President to step down. That is crazy. Maybe, power crazy.”
Muhyiddin addressed his supporters at the club after he was not allowed to open the meetings of the three wings of UMNO – Youth, Wanita and Puteri.
Also present were former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal. – BERNAMA
