PETALING JAYA – Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak (pix) has chided former deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over his continuous harping on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue.
In his blogsite today, Salleh said the Pagoh MP has run out of issues to criticise Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak and Barisan Nasional.
He said Muhyiddin is still harping on the 1MDB issue and the matter concerning the donation that Najib received from the Middle East.
“Surely Muhyiddin realises by now that those issues are not the instruments that can oust the Prime Minister. If they were then Najib would have been out of office by now and Barisan Nasional would not have performed well in the recent Sarawak state election and the twin by-elections in Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar,” he added.
He reiterated the matter involving 1MDB and the donation from the Middle East have been clarified numerous times, and the issue is no longer of interest to most Malaysians.
“Muhyiddin is trying to create the perception that the matter is still outstanding as a means to distract Malaysians from the fact the opposition is in a mess and has lost quite a lot of ground.
“They insist the Prime Minister reply to the allegations against him but then when he does, they ignore these responses and act as if nothing has been replied.”
Questioning Muhyiddin’s capabilities to offer a credible challenge to Umno and BN, Salleh advised the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leader to focus on his new party and prepare for the General Election instead.
Salleh’s response came after Muhyiddin in his latest claim, alleged the premier had close to RM1 billion in his personal bank account prior to banking in of the RM2.6 billion donation. – The Sun
