Muar, Balok Baru Latest To Record Unhealthy Air Level

KUALA LUMPUR – Muar and Balok Baru in Kuantan are the latest areas with Air Pollutants Index (API) readings at the unhealthy level. At 10pm, the API readings at the two locations were 106 and 104 respectively.

According to the Department of Environment portal, the API for Tanjung Malim and Kuching which were at the unhealthy level at 6pm, had dropped to the moderate level, at 100 and 97 respectively.

Fourteen other areas recorded unhealthy API at 10pm, namely Bandaraya Melaka (132), Bukit Rambai (123), Nilai (129), Port Dickson (121), Seremban (133), Tawau (146), Samarahan (106), Banting (136), Port Klang (124), Petaling Jaya (117), Shah Alam (119), Batu Muda (126), Cheras (114) and Putrajaya (129).

Twenty-six areas had API at the moderate level, among them Kota Tinggi (68), Larkin Lama (100), Alor Setar (57), Langkawi (52), Indera Mahkota (90), Seri Manjung (91), Perai (67), Bintulu (70), Sarikei (83), Kuala Selangor (92),
Kemaman (97), Kuala Terengganu (55) and Paka (81).

An API of between 0 to 50 is good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 301 and above (dangerous).
