KUALA LUMPUR â€“ Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) president Mohd Khalid Atan, 63, passed away after a fall this morning at his house in Jalan Permata 2, Taman Permata, Ulu Kelang here.
According to his daughter Liyana, 25, Mohd Khalid fell in the bathroom at about 8am and was rushed to the Damai Service Hospital in Melawati and pronounced dead at 9.40 am by a doctor in the hospital, she told Bernama here today.
“My father did not have any health problem. Even last week, he seemed normal and showed no change in behavior,” he said.
She said her father’s remains will be taken to the Taman Permata Surau for prayers and buried at the Keramat AU4 Muslim cemetery after the Asar prayers.
Mohd Khalid became MTUC president on Dec 29, 2010, and was re-elected for a second term in 2013.
He leaves behind wife Noorazah Abd Samad, 53, and three children. – BERNAMA
