KUALA LUMPUR – Management and Science University vice-chancellor Puan Seri Prof Dr Junainah Abd Hamid and Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Azizan Baharuddin were among the recipients of the Panglima Jasa Negara (PJN) award, today.
The two received the federal award which carries the title “Datuk”, at an investiture ceremony at Istana Negara, here, in conjunction with the birthday of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, celebrated on June 4.
The ceremony, which was also graced by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah, saw 299 individuals receiving various federal awards and medals.
The recipients of the PJN also included Meradong (Sarawak) assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing; director of the Strategic Special Unit under the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Roslan Abd Rahman; and legal adviser in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Amalena Sharmila Johan Thambu.
The others were Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association deputy president, Datuk Capt. Sharuddin Omar; Dong Zong former president, Quek Chee Hiang @ Quek Suan Hiang; Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu executive secretary, Awang Bujang Awang Antek; and medical doctor Datuk G. Leelavathi.
At the ceremony, Tuanku Abdul Halim also conferred the Darjah Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) on eight individuals, including police Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad, and First Admiral (Maritime) and Sabah Special Branch chief, Datuk Rorete Anak Sagon.
Thirty-eight people received the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) award, 85 the Ahli Mangku Negara (AMN) and 159 the Pingat Pangkuan Negara (PPN). – BERNAMA
