KUALA LUMPUR – The Harimau Muda C squad (Under 19) moved into the semi-finals of the 2015 AFF U-19 Football Championship after group B leader, Vietnam defeated Myanmar 2-0 in the last group fixtures at the Laos National Stadium in Vientiane, Laos, Monday.
Malaysia accompanied Vietnam into the last four of the annual competition with a better goal difference against Myanmar despite both teams sharing seven points after playing four preliminary matches.
In today’s match, Vietnam got their goals through Tran Duy Khanh in the 41st minute and Ha Duc Chinh in the 78th minute.
Malaysia is slated to face a mammoth task against group A winner, Thailand who are also the three-time champion while hosts Laos who emerged as group A runner-up will square-off against Vietnam in the semis.
Both matches will be held at the same venue on Wednesday (Sept 2).
For the record, Malaysia’s best achievement in the tournament which was initiated in 2002 was emerging as the runner-up in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
