KUALA LUMPUR – Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) is operating as usual but there will be no outdoor activities due to the haze.
Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement said classes at MRSM which is fully residential will be conducted as normal but students will not be allowed to carry out outdoor activities.
“Currently, MRSM students are now busy revising lessons before sitting for their examinations soon,” he said.
Ismail Sabri said the MRSM management was monitoring the health of students apart from supplying face masks as well as encouraging them to drink more water.
Meanwhile in KUCHING, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) denied rumours that Kuching International Airport (KIA) had been closed due to the haze.
KIA senior manager Mohd Nadzim Hashim said only the runway of the airport was closed for two hours starting from 7 am this morning and it was reopened at 9.10 am.
“I received many enquiries and calls on the matter. The rumour is not true, because only the airport runway was closed as visibility was at 300 metres at 7 am.
“Members of the public are advised to call MAHB at 082-454 242 to get correct and accurate information on the real situation at the airport,” he told Bernama.
Mohd Nadzim added as at 1.30 pm, visibility at the Kuching airport had fallen to 1,400 metres compared to 2,000 metres recorded at 11 am. – BERNAMA
