MPOB Research Assistant Charged With RM60,000 Bribery

SEREMBAN – A research assistant at the Malaysian Palm Oil Board claimed trial in the Special Corruption Court here Friday to offering and giving a bribe involving RM60,000, three years ago.

On the first charge, Mohd Azhar Mohd Arif, 50, is accused of offering RM50,000 to a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission superintendent at The Royale Bintang Resort & Spa, Seremban between May 29, 2013 and June 19, 2013.

The sum was allegedly an inducement to close the case against him in connection with a forged verification in the MPOB Farm Inspection Form, and fraud in the Oil Palm Replanting Scheme at Felda Raja Alias, Jempol. – BERNAMA
