BUKIT MERTAJAM – The mother of a five-year-old boy whose body was found at an oil palm plantation on Monday has been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations.
Magistrate Mohd Fitri Sadarudin ordered the remand for the 30-year-old suspect and a 25-year-old male suspect to begin from today when the duo were presented at court.
Police found the decomposed body after the mother reportedly confessed while being questioned by police to killing the victim by accident.
She had earlier reported the victim missing on Sept 23 but police brought her in for questioning five days later.
Both suspects were taken to the plantation in Permatang Tinggi to assist in the search as the body was dumped there.
Police are investigating the case for murder while the results of a post mortem to determine the cause of death is pending. – Bernama
