SUNGAI PETANI: The mother of Malaysian student in Paris, Nur Sakinah Naim (pic), recently managed to contact her daughter via telephone and WhatsApp.
However, Nur Halizah Ahmad, 43, said she had yet to find out the reasons for her daughter, an undergraduate at Universitaire de Technologie (IUT), Rouen, Normandy, going missing for several days.
“I really don’t know what to say, I haven’t even met her yet. So, I didn’t want to ask a lot of things, fearing that she would be stressed out. I just want her to be healthy,” she told reporters at her home in Kampung Masjid, Tikam Batu here on Friday.
Nur Sakinah, 19, who was reportedly missing since last Friday, returned to her apartment in Paris on Thursday.
The good news was conveyed to her mother by a representative from the Public Services Department who visited the family.
Earlier, Sungai Petani Umno Division vice-chief Mohd Rodhi Rejab handed over return flight tickets to Paris to Nur Halizah and her 46-year-old husband, Naim Awang. The couple is scheduled to leave for France on Sunday.
Mohd Rodhi said the air tickets, accommodation and meals for the couple are fully-sponsored by the division’s chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Saad who would also join them for the trip to France.
Their flight will depart from the KL International Airport at 2.10am on Saturday and is expected to arrive in Paris’ Charles De Gaulle Airport at 1.30pm (local time).
Meanwhile, Naim said he was grateful for the assistance rendered by all parties which would enable him and his wife to meet their daughter in Paris, and subsequently find out what had actually happened.
“Whether we will bring Nur Sakinah home or not, I have yet to decide on that because it needs to be discussed first. Let’s see how she is doing,” he said. – Bernama
