KOTA KINABALU – A total of 2,622 banners and stickers pertaining to obtaining loans from unlicensed money lenders or ‘ah long’ (loan shark), were removed in a police operation which began last month.
Two men, aged 24 and 34, were detained to facilitate investigations.
Kota Kinabalu police chief ACP M. Chandra said in a four-hour operation which began at 9am today, the police seized 883 banners and stickers from around Luyang, Inanam, Menggatal and Tanjung Aru.
He said integrated operations with the cooperation of the Kota Kinabalu City Hall, would be carried out indefinitely.
Nevertheless, he said ‘ah long’ activities in the city were under control, adding that there were no reports on the use of force in relation to such activities.
