KUANTAN – The Pahang Royal Family Welfare Body said today Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar was rude in joking about the Sultan of Pahang, Sultan Ahmad Shah, in his political talk.
Its representative, Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Pahang, Datuk Seri Wan Abdul Wahid Wan Hassan, said the act could be taken as insulting the institution of the sultanate which should be respected.
“We request him to apologise to the Sultan of Pahang and the people of the state for his act had hurt the feelings of the royal family, the heirs and the people,” he said.
Wan Abdul Wahid spoke to reporters after lodging a report against Mahfuz at the Kuantan District Police headquarters here.
Three NGOs also lodged police reports, namely Persatuan Kebajikan Islam dan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (PEKIDA) Pahang, Persatuan Muaythai Pahang and the Pahang Farmers Organisation (PASFA).
Mahfuz, who left PAS last month, is alleged to have committed the act at a political talk and a recording of his speech went viral on WhatsApp.
In KUALA LUMPUR, the Alliance of Pahang-born Associations in the Klang Valley today lodged a report against Mahfuz.
Chairman of the Association of the Pekan-born in the Klang Valley, Datuk Shahruddin Ahmad, who represented the alliance, requested the authorities to take the appropriate action immediately against Mahfuz.
Yesterday, four police reports were made against Mahfuz in Kuantan and Pekan. – BERNAMA
