KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of Rural and Regional Development plans to open more ICT business centres in the mould of MARA Digital next year.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the ICT business centres will be located in Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) buildings such as Arked MARA.
“Arked MARA located in small towns is part of the ministry’s transformation programme which involves the establishment of techno hubs.
“It is aimed at encouraging youths in rural areas to venture into the ICT business,” he told a press conference at Menara MARA here, today.
Earlier, Ismail said the opening of MARA Digital was not to rival other ICT business centres in the country.
“It is to provide healthy competition and give Bumiputera youths the opportunity to venture into the ICT business,” he said.
He also witnessed the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MARA and Celcom Axiata Berhad to support Bumiputera participation in ICT business.
MARA ICT centres will serve as hubs for ICT business by offering all goods and digital services for the needs of consumers. – BERNAMA
